Contacting Me

Hi everyone...

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all next week to celebrate World Book Day. I'll be interested to hear about some of your favourite books (I'll tell you about mine too). I've got lots of stories and rhymes to share with you, and lots to tell you about.

When I come to school you will be able to ask me lots of questions - so if there is anything that you would like to know about me, writing or being a writer, don't forget to ask.

I can't be in school all of the time so this part of my website is one of the places where we can keep in touch.

To leave a message on this page, click at the bottom of this box where it says "no comments" (if someone els ehas already left a messag it will change to "comment").

All the messages come to me first, so I will make sure they are all right to go on the web page.
You can also get in touch with me by email.
Make sure your teacher or your parents know that you are getting in touch. They will be able to help you if you are not sure what to do.

  2. Georgia from reception would like to know what was your favourite book as a child?

  3. Hello Georgia, it is so nice to hear from you. When I was very little my mum used to read me lots of stories. I really liked the Railway Books about Thomas the Tank Engine, James the Red Engine, Henry the Green Engine, and all the others. I especially liked the pictures.
Another of my favourite books was Where the Wild Things Are. As I got a bit older I started to buy books with my pocket money. The first book I ever bought was Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown (and I still have the book today).

Do you have a favourite book.

    1. Hi Abi, it's lovely to hear from you. I am really glad that you enjoyed the visit. It was great meeting everyone and I had lots of fun sharing stories.
I am not sure who my favourite author was when I was your age. I had lots of favourite books but I am don't think I had one favourite author. I did like books about Whinnie the Pooh - they were written by A A Milne, and I liked Roald Dahl' books. I also had big books that had lots of stories by different authors but I can't remember who they all were.
Another writer that I really liked was Mary Norton. I espcially liked her books about The Borrowers - tiny poeple that lived under floorboards and inside the walls of an old house. I was probably quite a bit older than you when I read these books though becasuse they are quite long.
Do you have a favourite author ?

    1. Hello Alex - thank you for leaving a message. It's great to hear from you. You have asked a very good question. I will give you a quick answer here but I will also put a bigger answer as a new post in the diary so that others can see it.

I learnt how to become an author in the same way that people learn anything. I kept on practising and practising until I got better. I read lots of stories and I started to write stories of my own. The first stories that I wrote were not very good - but I just kept on trying. Now I write stories all the time.

Right now I am writing some stories with little dinosaurs in them. I don't know how long it will take for them to be made into books, but I will send them to your school when the are. It might be later this year - or it might be next year. I have finished writing two of the stories and I have just seen some pictures that the illustrator has done. I think they will look great.

    3. Thank you for letting me know that you love dinosaurs - I do too. I am thinking about having another dinosaur character in one of the books but do not know what dinosaur to choose.
Do you have a favourite dinosaur that I could put into one of the books?

    1. Hello Alice, and thank you for leaving a message. Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy is very good. I do like the books and him and his friends - Schnizel von Krumm, with a very low tum, Bitzer Moloney, all skinny and bony, and the others.
My wife Vicky says that she really likes the cat, Scarface Claw, the toughest tom in town - by the same author Linley Dodd. Xx
